Abuse, neglect and trauma have wreaked havoc on the relationships, identity and resilience of youth from crisis, making their transition to adulthood extremely challenging.
On average, former fostser children require $300,000 in public assistance during their lifetimes. That means the 177 youth who aged out of foster care in Arkansas each year will cost taxpayers over $53 million dollars every year.
Instead of trying to manage, rescue or fix youth in crisis, we serve youth best through the gift of unconditional, supportive and nurturing relationships, coupled with high expectations. It is the gift of belonging, the gift of being wanted and valued. At Immerse, we prioritize the person over the program. It’s messy and slow work, but it is the loving patience we all need.
