A “Smashing” Celebration: OC Buildout Ceremony

On October 16th, we celebrated the beginning of the OC Buildout with a groundbreaking (or should we say, a “wall-smashing”) ceremony. A small group of Immerse youth and staff, as well as community leaders and local reporters, gathered to kick-off the project, and to demo one of the interior walls that will be removed during the project.

Among those who joined in the celebration were Mayor Frank Scott, Sheriff Eric Higgins, and Assistant Director of the Division of Children and Family Services, Christin Harper, as well as our buildout teams from SCM Architects and Flynco.

We were honored to celebrate this occasion with our community, and we are encouraged to have community leaders who have a passion for improving supports for youth from crisis in our city and state.

We're excited to see this space come to life to better serve youth from crisis. To keep up-to-date on our buildout progress or to view the groundbreaking ceremony, follow us on Facebook. You can also watch or read KATV (7) and KTHV (11) reports on the event, or read our “A New Thing: OC Buildout Begins” blog post found in the bottom right-hand corner below.

We look forward to a day when every youth in Arkansas who ages out of foster care, has runway, is homeless, is escaping trafficking, or is emerging from other crises has easy access to the support and tools they need to find healing and enter adulthood successfully. Thank you for helping to make this possible through your continued support.
