From Uncertainty to Opportunity: Meet Uriel
At 17, Uriel entered foster care during a time when many young people are beginning to think about what comes next. For Uriel, that path wasn't always clear. He was navigating change and uncertainty while also trying to figure out who he wanted to become and what life after high school could look like.
His journey eventually brought him to Immerse and The Station, where he found consistent support, new experiences and people ready to help him begin building toward his future.
And if you know Uriel, you know his personality doesn't go unnoticed. Several Immerse staff have said the same thing: His smile and laugh are contagious. He has an excitement for life and a confidence in what he knows he can accomplish.
One of the things he's been working toward is college.
During his time at Immerse, Uriel has continued to build confidence, learn more about himself and make plans for what he wants his future to look like. Along the way, he's had people in his corner to help him navigate the practical parts of preparing for adulthood while encouraging him to keep going after the goals he's set for himself.
Now, Uriel is preparing to transition to college, an exciting next step and one he's worked hard to reach.
There is a lot worth celebrating about how far Uriel has come, but we're especially excited about how much he's looking forward to what's ahead. He knows what he's capable of, he has big plans for his future and college is just the next step toward entering adulthood resilient and ready for life.
